Interview
This photo was taken during the extensive interview with the men and women at the Texas Department of Transportation. They kindly answered our questions about how we could help prevent accidents. They also helped us think through what would likely be the most reflective plant and many more questions. We also were able to survey an interesting piece of machinery called a Light Reflectometer. It is able measure the amount light reflected off of an object.

Experiments.
We did several different experiments to see how the reflectivity of certain plants would work in several different ways. Some experiments were to measure the amount of light reflected off of the plants, while others were to measure the amount of light reflected off of a plant onto paper. Another was to check the reaction time of drivers when they see a deer in different light levels. In this picture, we are building a greenhouse for our plants to survive over Christmas break.

Out in the field |
For one experiment, we spent a lot of time outside to gather and test plants. In this picture, our teammate was gathering native plants in Waco, Texas. We used native plants to test reflectivity. If there is a native plant that is highly reflective, then it could easily be planted along roads so drivers can see better at night. |
The Lumens app
Our team working together. |
This is a picture of the Lumens App we used to show the Lumens reflected off of the plants. It was very helpful for our experiments and data. It also was easily accessible, because you could download it on your phone which made it easy to transport and to use.
This is a picture of everyone on our team working together on our project to help prevent animal related car collisions. we love to work together because we are very good friends, because of this we know how each of us works best so we can distribute work according to our talents.
